Portland’s real estate market may be a seller market but homes should still be prepped before being listed to ensure they sell for top dollar. Homes should be cleaned and decluttered, not only on the inside but on the outside as well.
The areas inside the home which should be given the most attention are the living room, kitchen, and master bedroom. Carpets and flooring should be cleaned and vacuumed. Surfaces should be wiped down and dusted. Rooms should have clear walkways in which are wide to easily walk through. This may mean some furniture needs to be moved so the room doesn’t feel as crowded. For example, dressers and vanity’s shouldn’t be so close to a bed you need to turn sideways to get by.
It is important for all potential buyers to be able to picture themselves living in your home. Art pieces and wall colors should be as neutral as possible. If there are large portraits hanging in the living room you may want to consider taking them down and hanging a landscape in it’s place.
The outside of the home is important to clean up as well. The front of the house should look pristine so buyers don’t get scared off because the exterior looks neglected. Bushes and hedges should be trimmed back so they aren’t spilling out of their planter. The lawn should be mowed and edged, and the porch and walkway should be swept.
These are just a few of the ways to prep your home for sale. If you would like a full list of ways a home should be prepped for sale please contact me greg.portlandlifestyleteam.com!
